Candler’s Doctor of Ministry (DMin) is a three-year, online/hybrid degree designed for experienced professionals who want to strengthen the connection between theology and ministry practice. Because the degree is 90% online, you can remain deeply rooted in your place of ministry while you complete your studies. What’s more, the coursework and final project draw from your ministry context as well, with a focus on finding faithful and creative solutions to current issues in church and society. And perhaps best of all? Access to Candler’s esteemed faculty. You'll acquire a wealth of knowledge from the finest minds in theological education, knowledge that can be immediately applied to—and tested in—your place of ministry.

Admissions Requirements
- An MDiv degree with a superior academic record from an institution accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (or an equivalent accrediting body outside the United States and Canada) or an approved academic equivalent to the MDiv (e.g., a 48-credit-hour master’s degree with an emphasis on ministry as reflected in a transcript)
- A sense of vocational identity in pastoral ministry and service to the church, broadly conceived
- Three years of professional ministry experience beyond the MDiv degree
The Online Experience
Virtual program, real community
Just because 90% of Candler’s DMin degree is accomplished online doesn’t mean there’s a lack of community among students and faculty—in fact, current students attest that the opposite is true. Online video meetings twice a week provide a sense of camaraderie that permeates daily life and work, no matter where you’re logging in. “We interact almost every day in some form, sharing questions, frustrations, and encouragement,” says DMin graduate Matt Kelley 17T. It’s the perfect combination: the ability to put what you learn into action in your own church or community, with a supportive network of stellar faculty and engaged peers behind you—even when they’re scattered around the continent.
